Missed me?

Okay, I’m finally back in the text box.  Ready for another song’s meaning?  Toes - it really means what you get out of it - a relationship, a parent, etc.  I wrote it after having gone through a scare with mom.  Do you know that most women die of Heart Disease?  (or something like that - very scary)  Luckily, mom made it through.  I can’t imagine life without her.  She’s the peacemaker, the caretaker, the bond that keeps us all together.  Anyway, you know how they say you should let them know before it’s too late.  So, get off the computer, and let them know!

Sound is everything

So, we did the party on Saturday.  Josh and Kyle DID our sound.  Why in all caps, you ask?  They DID it.  I can’t explain more - I mean, the sound they produced was amazing.  Jon was on bass - bumping it out and singing (yeah!) and Darin was like magic and Dave was rocking away like a rock star - it was amazing.  And there was less pressure because the stage was right in front of a big airplane.  So, I was basically singing into the cockpit.  But, the sound was… thank you, Josh and Kyle.  Anyway, we’re going to try to recapture that for a live performance for YouTube.  Thank you for everyone that has encouraged us to do this thing.  It means so much to me.  Thank you.

Going East
Posted on: January 20th, 2008

I’m going on my business trip tomorrow.  Heading to the Venice of the East.  Just letting you know in case all one of you are looking forward to this blog.  So, you probably won’t hear from me until then.  After I return, (this Friday) Short Story has a private gig for the Aloha Airlines Pilot party that they have every year.  We played for them once before - and I guess they must have been really drunk, because they’re inviting us back.  Only kidding. We love them.  Last time we played, everyone was so supportive.  It was just me and Dave.  It’s almost like now, we’ve grown up.  We got to show them that we’ve improved.  We’re going to play with a full band and a sound guy - thanks, Josh!  Hope they’re proud!  Will let you know.                                                                Salli

now what?

We had a practice today… discussed some future details.  We’ll need some practice before we put up stuff on YouTube.  We want to be perfect for you - or at least bearable.  We decided that we’re probably going to order more CD’s to put in stores, too.  Don’t know when that’s going to be, but will keep you updated!  Is anyone out there?

The meaning, you ask?

Many people have asked about the inspiration for a lot of these songs. Who is Mr. Meredith? The inspiration came for this song after watching a show on public television. Many people may know about the contributions and sacrifices of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks, who have been hailed as saints for the civil rights movements. However, there are a multitude of others who became a part of that same fight, because of their desires to just be equal. Mr. James Meredith is one such man, pressing his way through a hostile crowd of his peers, neighbors and government officials (the governor stood in the doorway blocking his entry) in order to get the same type of education that they had been given. Many people I talked with did not know who James Meredith was. I wonder how many others we have forgotten that could’ve provided more inspiration for us. So there - that’s Mr. Meredith in a nutshell. Hopefully it gives you a little insight into our songs. I’ll be posting more information about the songs, etc. later. Good night.

Life is Good

Well, we’ve finally gotten most of the CD’s out to friends and family in time for the holidays.  Thank you so much for the support!!!We’re going to try to YouTube sometime this year.  Shay helped us to get our My Space account up - but alas, we are in need of friends.  Tell your friends and their friends about us, s’il vous plait.  We’ve gotten a lot of great responses to the semi-debut.   I think we’re still in denial.  You know, we’ve been in the studio for this project about 2 years.  Most of it was scheduling acrobatics - but, since we’re no professionals, we had to do our parts over and over and over again.  I can’t believe Jon actually stuck with it.  How does YouTube work anyway?  Do you get a bunch of your friends to go to your video on the day that you launch it to get “press”?  That might take 2 years, as well.  Well, I’m off to bed.  Thanks again, guys and gals!!!  we love you.Salli

We’ve arrived!

It’s finally almost here! Mike Grande mixed it for us and we kept it here locally for mastering so that we could have CD’s in hand by Christmas. It’s been over two years since we first started… and I will understand if some of you won’t believe it til you see it. We’re expecting them to come in on December 17th or 18th. We will have ten songs – 3 covers and 7 originals. The covers stared off as our strong songs, but as time went by and Dave came up with some great ones, the originals became our favorites. Look out for my favorites Stardust, Me and You and Mr. Meredith.
